Scratchy Bottom Halt

Picture
Rowland Emett published cartoons in the magazine “Punch”. For the 1951 Festival of Britain he designed the 15-inch gauge “Far Tottering and Oyster Creek Railway” at Battersea Pleasure Gardens. In 1968 he designed the inventions of Prof Caractacus Potts for the film “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” as well as the car.

Smallbrook Studio markets a range of ‘Gn15’ scale kits for Emett’s railway creations. The track gauge is 5/8in (aka 16.5mm), representing a 15in-gauge railway at a scale of 1:24. Scratchy Bottom Halt uses Smallbrook kits to re-create some of Emett’s railway cartoons and elements of the Festival Railway. The name of the layout is based upon a real place name in Dorset near Lulworth Cove.
