About UsThe Society is a non profit making organisation and aims to promote:
- Model and miniature railway engineering in all its aspects - Interest in all railway matters - Social activities in accordance with the wishes of the society Picture left: a corner of the automated layout built by the society for the Mid-Hants Railway inside a 32-foot parcels van. The layout is usually on show during galas and 'Thomas' weeks at Alresford. |
Our Facilities
|
The society owns a former scout hut sized 50 x 20 feet. This has substantial benefits. Secondly, we may leave layouts or parts of layouts up for many weeks or months at a time, without the need to put up/take down every evening we meet. Having our own premises also allows us to work on multiple layouts. Click Here to find out more about our layouts.

Our History
|
The society was founded in late December 1971 by a break-away group from the local model engineers. Its early years were spent in a former pig sty which had been previously used by a local band before the society took it on. Around 1990, the society moved to its current premises, when the Kempshott Scout Group moved into a new purpose-built brick building next door to the old wooden scout hut. In its early days, the society held an exhibition every two years. It now holds the exhibition annually.
