Our Facilities
|
The society owns a former scout hut sized 50 x 20 feet. This has substantial benefits. Secondly, we may leave layouts or parts of layouts up for many weeks or months at a time, without the need to put up/take down every evening we meet. Having our own premises also allows us to work on multiple layouts. Click here to find out more about our layouts.
The society meets on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings and on Friday afternoons. Click here for more details. |
Our History
|
The society was founded in late December 1971 by a break-away group from the local model engineers. Its early years were spent in a former pig sty which had been previously used by a local band before the society took it on. Around 1990, the society moved to its current premises, when the Kempshott Scout Group moved into a new purpose-built brick building next door to the old wooden scout hut. In its early days, the society held an exhibition every two years. It now holds the exhibition annually.
